Any adult active member in good standing in the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the Commonwealth of Kentucky (Kentucky Society) may sponsor his or her children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews under the age of 18 years for Junior Membership in the Kentucky Society. Junior membership offers an insightful and fun look in to their Mayflower ancestors’ lives and history as they left their homelands, undertook a harrowing journey and experienced this new land. They will receive a certificate of Junior Membership with their Mayflower Passenger’s name and be able to explore a variety of interesting and educational materials.
The Sponsor must send copies of birth and marriage certificates, as indicated, to prove each Junior applicant’s relationship to the Sponsor along with the completed Junior application and check, to the Kentucky Historian who will assess and verify the lineage.
When verified, the Juniors will become members of the Kentucky Society’s Junior Membership Program and will have the benefits of this program. They will not belong to the General Society of Mayflower Descendants and will not vote or hold office in the Kentucky Society. When they become 18 years of age until they are 25, they may then apply for full membership in the Kentucky Society which will be submitted to the General Society for approval and membership, using the records provided for their Junior membership, the Sponsor’s approved application and any other records that may be needed. Their Junior membership expires on their 25th birthday.
